2018 marked the 100th anniversary of all men and married home-owning women over 30 getting the vote in the UK. In recognition of this historic moment, Camden put on a series of events that celebrated and explored, in a broader context, what it means to live in a democracy today – examining ideas of equality, citizenship, and place.
We helped the council develop a brand that could pull together a huge variety of arts and culture events taking place at many different partnership venues in the borough and beyond.
Using the campaign title as a starting point (‘vox’ is taken from the Latin for voice), we developed a logo that put across the idea of protest from the point of view of a council. This is, of course, a balancing act – as councils are a common institution to protest against! Our poster concept seemed like the perfect visual, as posters are used as both a way to promote and to protest.
After we developed a fully flexible visual design suite, our work was used across exhibition, gallery and civic spaces, websites and digital articles, maps and walking guides, partner programmes, and social media marketing.
