Collaborating with the very talented people at Lucky Generals, we worked on the visual identity for Hostelworld, an online travel agent for hostels.
We needed to find a way of bringing the new brand strategy – “Meet the world” – to life. We began by creating an icon for the app, as we wanted to be sure that the visual identity would be recognisable even in an area only a few pixels across. We settled on a new ‘H’ design – featuring two arrows facing each other. This symbolises a meeting point, and ties-in with the idea of the hostel as a place where new people come together for the first time.
Once the identity was complete, we worked closely with the internal design teams at Hostelworld to apply it to the new-look site, mobile app, tablet app and social media channels.
We then created imagery for the company’s first advertising campaign, as well as a style guide for future photography work. Everything is designed to be as authentic as possible, featuring real people in real places.
